Enid Artists' Work Exhibited at the State Capitol
Oklahoma City, OK - Enid artists Shane and Sara Scribner are constantly looking for the next challenge in their paintings. Curated by the Oklahoma Arts Council, an exhibit featuring works by both artists titled Life and Other Attempts, will be on display through July 12, 2009 in the Governor's Gallery. The Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of the State Capitol and open Monday through Friday from 8:30-5:00.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 16th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the public is invited. Admission to the Governor's Gallery is free of charge.
Together, they founded the Scribner's Gallery & Studio in April 2007 but their roots in the arts go back to their childhood.
Born in Tulsa, Shane excelled in art as a child and decided to start his career in the arts right after high school. He earned his Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where he studied the classical elements of art. In Life and Other Attempts, Shane puts a modern twist on his subjects. "This new body of work embraces the classical techniques and subject matter that I trained with, while maintaining my passion to represent these timeless images in a modern light," said Shane.
Sara began her career by painting abstract portraits but has recently rekindled her passion for the traditional portrait technique she acquired while earning her Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. As a child, Sara learned that nothing is ever set in stone and her goal is to convey that message. "Life is unstable and unpredictable; change, movement and loss are necessary and integral parts of the human experience."
