Enid Says Goodbye to Junior High School
The Enid Public School board has agreed to change from the age old junior high concept to a middle school concept in the fall.
For the 2009-10 school year, Enid schools will change to: elementary school will include pre-kindergarten through fifth grade; middle school will include sixth grade through eighth grade; and high school will now be ninth grade through 12th grade.
The change in the grade locations will create more room in the elementary schools. Enid elementary schools are on the verge of overflow and this will save the city from having to build another school.

Woo Hoo!
Great idea.
I am wondering if the Enid High School building is big enough for 4 grade levels to attend? It was barely big enough for 10th, 11th, and 12th, when I was going there years ago. Or maybe they have other plans? I don't even live there anymore, So what do I know!
There was a study done by a group of consultants that showed, as a conservative estimate, they could put almost 600 more kids there.
Wow! That is very interesting! I remember growing up and my cousins living in larger cities were in HS during 9th grade. I was jealous. ;-)
