YWCA plans 'Girl Power' event
The YWCA will hold its seventh annual Girl Power Rally on Sat., Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Autry Technology Center. The event is open to all girls in fourth through seventh grades.The theme for this year's rally is "Be Your Own Hero, Face Your Dragons!" Participants can attend workshops with a variety of topics including self-esteem, relationships, card-making, women of the middle ages, self-defense and hair care. The event is catered by Angel Delight.
Volunteers are needed for the event to help lead groups, serve snacks and assist in workshops. All volunteers must be at least 13 years old.
Cost to attend the event is $15 and includes two snacks, lunch, a goody bag, t-shirt, workshops and guest speakers. Registration is open to all girls in fourth through seventh grade, and scholarships are available for those who qualify. All registrations must be received by Sept. 25. Transportation to the rally is available upon request.
Donors for the event include Autry Tech, Prevention Workz, United Way, OSU Extension Groups, YWCA Board of Directors, City of Enid, St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, CDSA/OCCY, Patty Cake Daycare, Vance Air Force Base, Integris Bass Baptist Health Center and other individuals in the community.
Registration forms can be picked up at the YWCA at 525 S. Quincy. Volunteers are still needed for assisting with workshops, group leaders and general event organization. For more information, call (580) 234-7581.
