To Build or Not To Build
There will be an important vote at Oakwood Country Club on Monday. Members will be voting on a proposal to tear down the current clubhouse in order to build a brand new 12,000 sq. ft. building.
All members are encouraged to attend Monday nights meeting at 6:30 pm to discuss the matter. If passed, construction could begin as soon as this Fall with an estimated 12 to 16 month completion date.
Stockholder members will need an 82% majority to pass the resolution. A 3 year assessment will help fund the project.
Golf, tennis and pool facilities will remain open during construction and a temporary structure may be constructed for limited dining.

We really dont need a new country club-what we need is money invested in our education system and possbily the retail industry in this town.
Thanks for the comment! The thing is the club is not being funded or built by the city or citizens of Enid, only club members.
The entire town would need to address our education system and retail industry, not just one group, club or organization.
What you also need to keep in mind is that businesses look at private facilities like the country club when deciding to locate to an area. Oakwood is a great golf course and pulls in alot of business, such as the quail hunt, wedding receptions and other events. It is important for the community in this way, even if you aren't a 'member'.
