Oops! Had the wrong store.
On the north side of the square, I think the store two buildings west of Grays was probably Garfield's (a women's clothing store) and the shingled front building might have been Morris Jewelers. If the west corner had been showing, it would have been Mayer's Shoes, I believe.
In 1959 the businesses east of Kress were: Boston Fountain, Enid Paint & Wallpaper, Cromwell's and Lindsay Furniture. In 1959 the old post office building was still across the street north and was called the Civic Center. The Garfield Co. Library, YMCA, Teen-Town and other organizations were housed there.
