History of an Enid Building

This building, located at the corner of Maple and Jefferson was dedicated in 1924 as the First Evangelical United Brethren Church.
On February 23, 1951 the church was almost completely destroyed by fire. In October of 1953 a newly repaired church building was dedicated. The former church was converted to an education wing. The church continued to thrive and in fact was the largest and most successful EUB church in Oklahoma.
In 1968 the Evangelical United Brethren and the Methodist Church merged creating the United Methodist Church. This placed First EUB, renamed Central UMC in 1968, just one block from Enid First UMC. So in 1982 plans were made to relocate the church to the present location which is now Willow View United Methodist Church.
The building later became the home of Cimarron Montessori School which it continues to be today. Cimarron is a non-profit board-run school which has a toddler program, two primary programs and a combined elementary program serving kids from 2 to 12 years old.
