Enid SPCA Has A New Home
After months of planning and construction, Enid's new animal shelter is now open.
The new building, located at 1116 Overland Trail, is Phase I of a two-phase project. The SPCA now has a health clinic and surgical facility, as well as feline rooms. They are currently setting up a small outside exercise area for their dogs until they have funding for building a canine facility.
In the lobby is a small pet supply shop, which they have named Angie's Pet Plaza, in memory of Angela Faulkner. The shop carries Nutro food products, like Natural Choice premium dog and cat foods. In addition, they will carry start-up animal supplies and specialty pet products, and they hope to add a groomer in the near future. When you shop at Angie's Pet Plaza, your purchases support the work of the Enid SPCA.
The SPCA was short on donations in 2007 and the shelter experienced a 25 percent increase in construction costs. Eventually they would like to add a barn and a horse rescue area.
The SPCA expects the shelter to cost about $200,000 and said it is about 75 percent funded. For information on the shelter or to donate, call 233-1325 and ask for Gabriella Wilson or Vickie Fox.
