A Life Well Lived

It was just a few short months ago that family and friends gathered to honor one of Enid's finest friends. Ruth Hedges Ipsen was in town for the Phillips reunion and was thoroughly surprised as her three living children coordinated a birthday party honoring her and those that she had effected during her years in Enid.
It was wonderful getting to see Ruth and the family members that had spent so many years living in the Knox Mansion on west Broadway. There were slide shows, pictures, a tour of the house and stories of the late Thayne and Michael Hedges. We all had a great time and thank Craig, Carroll and Brendan for allowing us to see Ruth as we remembered her so many years ago. She was young at heart, kind and full of life. We'll miss her.
Ruth Carroll Hedges Ipsen passed away Friday morning in California with her three surviving children by her side. She'll indeed be missed but we can all be happy remembering that she touched so many lives and made us all better people by just knowing her.

Curtis,
Thank you for the beautiful and heartfelt tribute to Ruth. She had a remarkable spirit that drew people to her like a magnet. She treated all of us as if we were her own children. We all lost our second Mom on Friday morning. If there is any comfort at all, it is that she is back in the embrace of her husband and soulmate, Thayne, and Michael, her first-born child. I am heartbroken for Craig, Carol, Brendan and her grandchildren, and for us, but I rejoice for Ruth because she is home.
