Enid's Amazing Impressionist
This beautiful painting was created by Enid's Amanda LaMunyon, an impressionistic artist. What's so amazing is that it was created when she was 9. Amanda LaMunyon is now an 11-year-old girl who has exceptional artistic talent and who also has Asperger's syndrome, which according to a Web site about the disorder is a milder form of autism that is characterized by social isolation and eccentric behavior in childhood. Amanda sells her artwork on her website and has donated a portion of the proceeds to Children's Medical Research Institute in Oklahoma City. Read more about this special girl from Enid, Oklahoma. Former President Gerald Ford dies at 93
Gerald R. Ford, 93, the 38th president of the United States died Tuesday night in California. He was the only man ever to reach the White House without being elected to national office as both Vice-President and President. He was born Leslie Lynch King, Jr. after his biological father. He was later renamed after his adoptive father. Gerald Ford had two attempts on his life in California during the month of September, 1975. Both attempts were by women. President Ford became the nation's longest-living president, at 93 years, 121 days, surpassing the mark of Ronald Reagan. Ford was the last remaining member of the Warren Commission appointed to study the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Ford played center on University of Michigan national champion football team. He also received contract offers from the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, which he turned down in favor of attending Yale law school. President Ford won the Republican nomination for the Presidency in 1976, but lost the election to his Democratic opponent, former Governor Jimmy Carter of Georgia.
A Great Christmas Story
Here's a heart warming story about a girl, the Internet and a guy that took a chance. A few months ago a graphic designer in Nashville named Glenn Sweitzer accepted a new friend on his myspace account. Her name was Rachel Shay. Rachel was from a small town in Oklahoma called Enid. Glenn knows a bit about country music having designed album/CD covers for almost every top country artist singing today. After hearing a song on her myspace account, Glenn knew Rachel had something special. Here's a little of the story in his own words: Well, I will not go into the details on this, but let's say that Rachel had a pretty bad year. I learned about everything through Rachel's mom, who emailed me. Once I heard all the story's, I had a burning desire to do something for her. I first thought about calling the "Make A Wish Foundation", but decided to try to do it on my own. I wanted to get Rachel into Nashville, to record some songs to just celebrate all she has made it through. I first called a good friend, Jim Reilley, to see if he would be interested in producing this little project of mine. He actually said yes, and also gave me a CD with 12 songs on it for Rachel to pick from. I then spoke with Vicky Hilliard from Athena Health Spa, to see if they can help with some things....like..YEA!! Not only did they provide full spa treatments, massages and nail jobs, but they worked out the hotel stay for 5 days at the Holiday Inn. I then spoke with Pam Tillis, and got 2 dinner Christmas Show tickets at the Opryland Hotel. After the show, Rachel and her sister Rhonda got to meet Pam. I then spoke with my buddy Dustin Bogue...he was amazing, and pulled together the musicians we would need to make the music. Well, it all came together, Rachel and her sister spent 5 days here, and had a very busy schedule. AND... the last day they were here, we squeezed in a photoshoot and this music video shoot. After all this, we have built a pretty amazing friendship. I am hoping to help her pursue her dream of music to the next level. Through this whole situation, I was filming and documenting it, to make a mini-documentary in the near future. To complete this, I will be heading to her small town right before Christmas, where we are both being interviewed for the Oklahoma papers and radio. I just wanted to do a positive thing for somebody, and show that myspace is not all that bad! This has been the most amazing gift I have ever received. Glenn has now been to Enid and has commented about it on his blog. For more on this story visit these two sites: Glenn SweitzerRachel Shay

 Merry Christmas Everyone!!
TIME Person Of The Year
Yep, I've been named the TIME Person Of The Year! Can you believe it? Little old me from Enid, Oklahoma. What an honor! Me, on the cover of TIME Magazine. Thank you, thank you, I'll never forget this. Here's what TIME said about ME! "For seizing the reins of the global media, for founding and framing the new digital democracy, for working for nothing and beating the pros at their own game, TIME's Person of the Year for 2006 is Curtis D. Tucker."Gosh, I'm just speechless. I'd like to thank everyone that supported me and got me here. I'd like to thank my computer for getting me online and I'd like to thank my family for putting up with my long hours online. TIME also named anyone that has ever been on the Internet as Person of the year. Although that includes a billion or so folks I'm sure I was at the top of the list. Congrat's to all!
Happy Birthday To Me!

A New Pharmacy in Town?
The Enid Metropolitan Area Planning Commission approved a proposed drugstore site plan at 3915 W. Garriott in front of Oakwood Mall. The pharmacy would be built in the area just east of Blockbuster Video. There are still details to be worked out but Enid is likely to have another pharmacy soon.
Which pharmacy might be building in Enid? Could it be CVS Pharmacy?
CVS opened its first store in Lowell, MA in 1963 under the name Consumer Value Store. As the company grew and they opened more stores, they phased out the full name and became known as CVS. Unofficially, the letters stand for the "convenience, value and service".
CVS looks for highly visible locations in high traffic areas that are easily accessible and are in a trade area of at least 18,000 people. They prefer sites that can support a freestanding store with drive-thru capability, between 1.5 to 2 acres, with parking for at least 80 vehicles.
Any scoop out there?? Let us know.

Look! Up in the Sky...
I took this full moon photo from my front yard in Enid, OK this month and posted it to help kick off a fun filled few weeks of star gazing. Get ready to see wonders that won't be seen again for years to come. Beginning December 10, planets Jupiter, Mercury and Mars will be visible to the naked eye until December 14. These three planets in conjunction can be seen early morning, 40 minutes before sunrise. While the phenomenon became visible from earth on Thursday, the conjunction will be within 1 degree circle on Sunday, which is very rare and occurs only once in 50 years. You will need to look towards the east and southeast direction close to the horizon at 5.50 am, 40 minutes before sunrise to spot Jupiter, Mercury and Mars. You can use the naked eye or binoculars to see this fun occurance. Also this month there will be meteor showers likely to occur through December 17. You should be able to see bright streaks of light zipping across the night sky. Away from city lights, you should be able to see these showers with the naked eye. On December 14, the Geminid meteor shower will be at its peak where more than 120 meteors are expected to be seen from night skies. Look towards the northeast and east from 10.30 pm onwards. Morning walkers can look towards the sky between the west and northwest direction from 4.00 am onwards. Bright streaks of light will be seen darting through the atmosphere. Happy Gazing!! Remembering Michael Hedges
It's been 9 years since Michael Hedges died in an automobile accident. I was searching for something on the Internet the other day and saw a link to a video of Michael during a concert. If you have never seen Michael in concert or been able to see him perform you should check out the videos available on YouTube. Michael was a native of Enid and began his fantastic career here. The Hedges family lived in the Knox Mansion on west Broadway and have left a lasting legacy in Enid. Learn more about Michael and his music at NomadLand.com.
