Have you tried to flush out a plumber for a small inside job lately? You might as well forget it. There seems to be a plumber conspiracy going on around town. We've heard from friends and family that there is a two-three week wait just to get a toilet looked at. Is it a shortage of plumbers? We think not. A plumbers conspiracy? As hard as it is, we've found 10 things harder to do than to get a plumber to your house the day you need them: 1o. Driving across town without getting stuck behind a blue haired driver. 9. Getting out of a ticket from a cop driving a Camero. 8. Going two blocks without seeing a Camp campaign sign. 7. Arriving home with the correct order from the Micky D's drive thru. 6. Discovering where the City Fathers hold their secret meetings. 5. Trying to spell Chautauqua. 4. Crossing Van Buren at Broadway before you run out of gas. 3. Finding an old gas station that is not a used car dealership. 2. Flipping by the Pegasys channel without stopping to watch. And the number 1 thing harder to do than to get a plumber to your house the day you need them is going to the post office for one stamp and finding the vending machine working. Enid's First Library
The Enid Carnegie Library was built in 1909-1910, after statehood was granted in 1907. The library opened August 1, 1910. It served the Enid community as a public library from 1910 until 1964. A new library was built across the square from the Carnegie Library in 1964. The Enid Carnegie is another example of a building that did not feature classical architectural elements, but rather had an interesting dome and balustrade along the roofline, and an extruded square front entrance with highly decorative elements around the front door. The Carnegie Library was destroyed in 1972.

Oklahoma Christian University, Enid
Above is a postcard picture of Oklahoma Christian University in Enid. Also known as Phillips University, it is now home to Northern Oklahoma College - Enid. Phillips University went into bankruptcy and closed it's doors in 1998. On October 9, 1906, Dr. Ely Vaughn Zolars arranged for the founding charter of a college originally named Oklahoma Christian University. Enid businessmen promised money and a forty-acre campus east of Enid. T. W. Phillips of Butler, Pennsylvania, backed the plan and with the donations of Disciples of Christ Churches of Oklahoma, the school held its first classes September 17, 1907. In 1912, following Phillips's death, the University was renamed in his honor.
