Congratulations 2006 Homecoming Queen!!
Congratulations to Candace Burton and Matt Athey, your 2006 Football Homecoming King and Queen. Candace and Matt were crowned at Enid High's 1000th game Friday night at D. Bruce Selby Stadium. Vying for homecoming queen were 17 queen candidates dressed in princess dresses (as my daughters called them) and each rode into the football stadium atop a convertible sports car. There were so many queen candidates that a few vehicles had to be used twice. The King gave the Queen her traditional letterman sweater, bouquet of roses and the always anticipated King/Queen kiss (on the cheek). There was a great crowd on hand and those in attendance got to see a fireworks display at the half time show along with the release of 1000 blue and white balloons, in honor of the 1000th game.
It's Easy To Donate!!
This Sunday is the Horn of Plenty Food Drive. If you've ever wanted to donate to a worthy cause but just didn't know how, this is your chance! It's simple. Rummage through your pantry and find a few non-perishable food items before Sunday and just leave them on your porch. Volunteers will be by and pick them up. Items needed include baby food, canned goods, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, beans and powdered milk. If your items do not get picked up on Sunday please drop the items off at the warehouse on the southeast corner of 16th and Randolph between 9 and 11 a.m. next week. Or, simply take them to any Enid fire station.
The Pumpkins Are Coming!!
Can you believe it's that time of year again!!? Fall is here, football, falling leaves and now the pumpkins will be hitting town this weekend. It's become as big a tradition as picking out a Christmas tree. We take the whole family to the pumpkin patch, take pictures, buy a few pumpkins and have a great collection of memories. The pumpkin patch is located at the Christ United Methodist Church, Cleveland and Randolph. Pumpkins go on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday and will be available through October. Patch hours are 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
It's Open!!
The renovated McDonalds on Van Buren is back open for business!! At 5a.m. this morning Enid got a good look at it's newest McDonalds. My two girls were excited about getting to visit the new Micky D's on opening day so we trotted over for lunch today. I knew it would be crowded and crazy but to my surprise we got our food in almost record time and had a very enjoyable meal. The inside looks great with a retro feel to it. The dining area is smaller and has booths, high tops and even a bar type seating. It's cozy and you now have access to free refills at the drink station. There is additional seating with a TV in a removed part of the restaurant. Combine this with the new double drive-thru lane and I think we have a hit! The girls loved the swivel chairs at the high top table and gave the new look an A+.

The annual Fling at the Springs is here! Free music all day and free fireworks tonight. It's a day full of entertainment by local and statewide bands followed by fireworks at the performance pavilion on the west side of the park. Admission is free.

The event will feature some of the best amateur and semi-professional musical talent in Northwest and North-Central Oklahoma. The Festival is a fun, wholesome activity for the whole family.

Prayers...
The Enid Buzz family would like to send prayers to the families of the four young adults killed in a car crash Monday night near Tulsa. I workout out at the YMCA several times a week and saw three of these great young adults around the Y almost every time I was there. They were always smiling, always helping and you could see that they had bright futures ahead of them. I'll personally miss seeing them roaming the halls of the Y. A memorial service for Stephen J. Dillon, 18, is 3 p.m. Friday at Temple Baptist Church. A memorial service for Sarah Jane Foster, 19, is 2 p.m. Saturday at West Willow Community Church. A celebration service for Aaron Paul Davis, 20, is 10 a.m. Saturday at Enid Mennonite Brethren Church. A celebration service for Isaac King, 20, is 3 p.m. Sunday at Emmanuel Baptist Church. God bless them all.
