Liquidation Set for All Brook Mays Stores...

Brook Mays declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy on July 11 after several months of looking for a buyer. With debts worth more than $70 million, Brook Mays Music's 62 stores and retail inventory will be liquidated following a $33.4 million asset sale approved August 9 by a U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Dallas. The liquidation will affect all Brook Mays retail outlets in eight states and will eliminate hundreds of jobs.

SB Capital Group LLC led the Brook Mays purchase and have stated that they will hold going-out-of-business sales for retail inventory and may get out of the rental business.

Things to watch for...

Knotty Rugs and Nice Furniture has replaced the old Salvation location on Garriott and Oakwood. (Remember eating at Gene's?)

Comfort Zone has moved to the old Burchardt location (Newmans) and will soon be joined by a brand new furniture store.

A new Family Resource Center has taken the spot once occupied, many years ago, by Q-Spot on Broadway.

A new Vietnamese Restaurant will soon replace the empty Zino's which was once the Kettle (was it the Kettle?).

Did I see a sign west of the Chinese Super Buffet (old Hardees on Garriott) announcing the coming of another Chinese Buffet?

ALDI grocery will soon be coming to Enid located on the lot next to Sonic, in front of Lowes on Garriott.

Something old is new again.

New Hastings
Old Hastings

Hastings Books, Music and Videos in Sunset Plaza has been completely remodeled and the Hardback Cafe has been added. The entire Sunset Plaza is also getting a nice makeover.

The Hardback Cafe includes tables, a couch, chairs and an outside patio. They sell cappucino, lattes, blended drinks, cold drinks, iced coffee, hot chocolate and other frozen beverages. You can also purchase bagels and pastries, including cakes and croissants. Plus they have a drive up window!

Speaking of coffee! Cafe Davinci's is back in the lunch business. Stop by for a sandwich and chips. Our favorite menu item is the peanut butter and banana sandwich!

You've Been Warned!!

Govenor Henry just imposed another statewide burn ban in Oklahoma. There is no outside burning allowed. You will be allowed to use a charcoal and gas grill.

Smokers beware!! Flicking your nasty cigarettes out your window is also banned! Not that it isn't littering in the first place. A hot line is being set up to report smokers that flick their cigarettes into the grass. The Govenor revealed that many of last years fires were started by cigarette smokers. Law breakers will be fined and prosecuted.

If we find the number to report fire starters we will post it. Please give our firefighters a break!!
